ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 16, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mondo, the global leader in the track and field, indoor sport and contract flooring markets, is introducing its new Super X 720 track at the annual U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) convention being held this week at the JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes.
The new Super X 720 track has reformulated rubber and combines the wear layer of Mondo's world renowned Super X Performance track and the backing of its acclaimed Mondotrack to deliver the ultimate in comfort, performance and speed, making it the ideal track for both training and competition. The two layers are layers vulcanized together, which guarantees a molecular bond between the two layers. The result is a continuous, seamless piece of material.
The wear layer, or contact layer, was designed to provide uniform, consistent performance throughout its life. The vulcanized natural rubber surface delivers exceptional traction, durability, drainage and safety.
Designed for superior athletic speed and comfort, the hexagonal backing, or performance layer, converts the maximum amount of force generated by athletes' foot strikes to energy for the most energy return, which helps support the effort of the lower-leg muscles.
The reformulation of the rubber increases shock absorbency and energy return, therefore further assists the performance layer in increasing athletes' comfort during training and enabling runners to achieve faster times than when running on other surfaces.
The world's top track for more than 30 years, Mondo's Super X Performance track is installed at more than 1,100 venues globally and was the track of eight Olympic Games through 2004. Mondotrack was the competition track of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. More than 230 world records have been set on tracks made by Mondo.
The convention is Dec. 16 to Dec. 19.
