CARRBORO, N.C., Jan. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Provence restaurant's formula for success – wonderful cuisine, uncompromising service, and community involvement – will not waver in 2014.
"We've already begun to embrace the new year with a seasonal fine-tuning of our lunch and dinner menus, a look ahead at Valentine's Day, and continued support of TABLE, a charity devoted to providing emergency food aid for hungry children in Chapel Hill and Carrboro," said Baptist Knaven, executive chef and co-owner of the popular regional French and Mediterranean restaurant.
This month's fund-raiser is a feature of Provence's newly introduced "Third-Thursday Wine Tasting" events, which take place in the establishment on the third Thursday of each month.
Titled "How to Pick the Perfect Wine for Your Dinner," the gathering will provide an opportunity to sample a variety of high-end wines, while contributing to a worthy cause. The fee for participation is $20.
The event, scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Jan. 16, is the second consecutive Third-Thursday Wine Tasting to be conducted by the restaurant, located at 203 West Weaver St. in Carrboro, N.C.
As Valentine's Day nears, Chef Knaven is planning to celebrate Feb. 14 with specially prepared additions to the classics on Provence's menu, such as a Chicken Saltimbocca, Salmon Papillote and Tuna au Poivre.
"And for dessert, to share with your Valentine," Chef Knaven said, "is a Red Velvet Cake, covered with Chocolate Ganache and served with macerated Berry Compote."
