ATLANTA, Feb. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Racemi today announced that its cloud migration software has been selected by Phoenix NAP to extend migrations to the company's portfolio of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) products, which are all based on vCloud.
By using the Racemi software, Phoenix NAP can on-board customer workloads to its various IaaS solutions from a Linux or Windows physical server, or other virtualization technologies like Hyper-V, KVM and Xen, as well as from other leading public cloud platforms. Also, Phoenix NAP can migrate customer workloads to its on-premises offerings. Availability is planned for the first quarter.
"We've always had a great migration path to our cloud for our customers using VMware virtualization technology. Now with the Racemi software, we're able to offer our customers an easy way to migrate from a diverse list of environments to any of our flexible IaaS and hosted solutions," said William Bell, vice president of product development of Phoenix NAP.
The Racemi server imaging technology quickly clones server workloads between dissimilar physical, virtual or private cloud platforms, reducing the migration process from days to minutes. The Racemi software captures the entire server stack--including operating system, applications, and configuration--and automatically converts it to run on any of the Phoenix NAP products by applying the necessary tools and drivers during the migration process. This ensures existing workloads are migrated in their time-tested configuration, which leads to better reliability and ability to be supported.
"Our cloud migration technology helps Phoenix NAP address a wide range of customer scenarios for on-boarding customers to its computing platforms," said James Strayer, vice president for product management, Racemi. "Now, those customers will have a migration experience with other technologies that is comparable to the one that they're currently used to with VMware."
Availability is planned for the first quarter. Both companies are exhibiting at the VMware Partner Exchange event this week in San Francisco, with Racemi at booth 226 and Phoenix NAP at the Service Provider Pavilion.
