LOWELL, MA--(Marketwired - Feb 18, 2014) - TRC Companies, Inc. is pleased to announce that Gale F. Hoffnagle has received the Henry T. Harrison Award for Outstanding Contributions by a Consulting Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The award was given during a ceremony at the 94th AMS Annual Meeting on February 5, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Hoffnagle, a senior vice president and a leader of TRC's Air Quality Consulting Practice, has been an active member of the American Meteorological Society since 1968 and has been a certified Consulting Meteorologist since 1976. He has worked for TRC since 1982 in various consulting and managerial positions and currently leads 80 air quality scientists and engineers in performing permitting and consulting work for a wide range of industrial and governmental clients.
Hoffnagle is a Past President of the Air and Waste Management Association, the National Council of Industrial Meteorologists, and the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering. He has also held various Committee Chairman posts for organizations including the American Meteorological Society, and the American Petroleum Institute. He is a Qualified Environmental Professional and a Certified Consulting Meteorologist and has provided clients with environmental consulting expertise for more than 45 years.
The Henry T. Harrison award was established in 2011 to honor Henry T. Harrison who was named the first AMS Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) in 1957. He accompanied Rear Adm. Richard E. Byrd on his first Antarctic expedition in 1929-30, where he studied weather conditions. Prior to the expedition, Harrison was a meteorologist with the United States Weather Bureau in Cleveland for several years. Nominations for the award are considered by the Board of Certified Consulting Meteorologists and recommendations are given final approval by the AMS Council.
