SAN DIEGO, March 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today announced the appointment of Vahid Manian to Senior Vice President of Global Engineering and Operations. In this role, he will assume overall responsibility for Entropic's global engineering and operations organizations, including hardware and software product development, technical operations, quality, and supply management. Dr. Michael Farese will assume the role of Chief Technology Officer, where he will help guide the Company's advanced technology and platform architecture roadmaps, as well as collaborate with academic and industry standards bodies to drive innovation deeper into the connected home entertainment market.
Since joining Entropic in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Global Operations, Manian has successfully expanded the scale and scope of the Company's global operations organization. He implemented innovative manufacturing cost reduction and long-range capacity planning strategies that have had significant impact on gross margins and inventory turns. Manian also played an integral role in moving Entropic to the latest 28nm low power process technology. Leveraging his prior success, engineering background and industry expertise and relationships, Manian is well-suited to lead the next phase of Entropic's engineering and operations growth and success.
"During his time with Entropic, Vahid's leadership has driven us to explore and implement forward-thinking methodologies and technologies that have strengthened the company. In his new role, Vahid will have the opportunity to make an even greater impact and set the course for the future of Entropic's global engineering and operations teams," said Patrick Henry, president and CEO of Entropic. "We are also excited for Mike to lead our Office of the CTO. As Senior Vice President of Global Engineering, Mike was critical in the Company's transition from a Connectivity-only company to a more robust platform semiconductor company. As CTO, Mike's vision and engineering insight will help Entropic focus on core technology innovation and industry standards activities that address the changing connected home entertainment market."
Farese joined Entropic in 2010 as Senior Vice President of Global Engineering and Operations, and in 2012 focused his attentions on expanding the worldwide engineering organization when Entropic expanded its product development teams with two acquisitions. During his time with the Company, Farese has made a number of significant contributions, having developed and introduced the industry's first Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA®) 2.0 system solution, the industry's first digital Channel Stacking Switch, Entropic's first integrated System-on-a-Chip plus MoCA 2.0 product and built a global software team that has spearheaded many key innovations, including Entropic's Open RDK (reference design kit) platform. His technical and business management experience, coupled with industry foresight and academic and standards community relationships, strongly position him to lead Entropic's CTO activities.
Manian and Farese assume their new positions effective immediately and will continue to report to Patrick Henry.
