BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Butler Snow – which recently expanded its Birmingham office by nearly 20 attorneys – today donated $50,000 to the Birmingham Museum of Art, reinforcing the firm's community involvement as it grows its presence in the city.

"Butler Snow has long supported the arts in the communities we serve and we're pleased to make this contribution today," said Donald Clark, Jr., chairman of Butler Snow.

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, Birmingham Mayor William A. Bell, former Miss. Gov. Haley Barbour, former U.S. Rep. John Tanner and other officials attended an event called "Embracing the Arts. Impacting the Community" at the Birmingham Museum of Art, which celebrated Butler Snow's Birmingham expansion and growing roots in the city. Clark and J. William (Bill) Rose, Jr., a leading member of Butler Snow's Birmingham team, presented the check to Gail Andrews, director of the Birmingham Museum of Art. Business leaders, community representatives and other dignitaries also took part in the event.

"Having a healthy arts culture helps build robust communities throughout Alabama, and we appreciate this generous commitment from Butler Snow," Bentley said.

"This was one of the many reasons that we were drawn to Butler Snow," Rose said. "Butler Snow has a great heritage of making an impact in the communities they serve, and we are glad to be leading this charge in Birmingham."

The $50,000 donation will be used to broaden the Birmingham Museum of Art's outreach programs.

"We are thrilled to be part of Butler Snow's vision of helping the arts and the community, and this gracious donation will certainly help us further our mission of providing unparalleled cultural and educational experiences," said Gail Andrews, director of the Birmingham Museum of Art.
