PHILADELPHIA, April 30, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Independence Blue Cross (Independence) today announces the availability of adult dental and vision care plans for individuals and families that offer low out-of-pocket costs and access to a large network of dental and vision care professionals. The plans, which cover consumers age 19 and older, may be purchased at any time throughout the year and do not require the purchase of an Independence medical plan. In addition, consumers who choose to purchase dental and vision care plans at the same time may receive a discount on their vision care plan rates.

Independence's new benefit offerings include two dental PPO plans and two vision care PPO plans. Individuals can purchase a dental plan or a vision care plan separately, or bundle dental and vision care plans and receive a 15 percent discount on their vision monthly premium.
Independence's new vision benefit offers:
- Access to eye exams, eyeglasses, and contact lenses
- Value-added discounts on laser vision correction
Dental benefits include:
- Access to a large, national network of dentists
- Coverage for regular, preventative visits
- Ability to use any dentist
- Discounts for services not covered under a plan
Contracts for dental and vision care are effective for 12 months, regardless of the date of purchase.
