Amoena Announces YSC 'Face of Mission Strength' Winners

Amoena and Young Survival Coalition Name Ambassadors for Breast Cancer Survivors


Atlanta, GA, May 1, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Amoena, the world's leading breast care brand, in partnership with Young Survival Coalition, proudly announces the winners of Amoena's Mission Strength Contest.  After a nationwide search, and nearly 100 entries, three amazingly strong and powerful women have been selected as Amoena's Ambassadors for 2014.  The three women that were selected will act as Brand Ambassadors for Amoena, appearing in some of Amoena's print and online outlets including features in Amoena Life Magazine.

For over 35 years Amoena has been a strong supporter and partner with women battling breast cancer.  By joining with Young Survival Coalition (YSC) Amoena organized its 'Mission Strength' contest, recognizing women and their mission to battle cancer with strength, grace and dignity.   YSC empowers women by providing information and support, encouraging women fighting this disease to find their inner strength.  Says Malissa Magyar, Global Marketing Director for Amoena, "The three winners were selected from an inspiring group of brave women, who shared their stories of overcoming breast cancer and how they've redefined strength and beauty throughout their journey. Carletta Cunn was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 29, 2013 at age 41, and recently finished her treatment.  She is active in social media and gives back by volunteering at Turning Point Breast Cancer Rehab Center in Roswell, GA and captains the walking team for It's a Journey in Sandy Springs, GA.  In addition to being a member of the Shades of Pink choir, she is currently training for her first triathlon and has a blog dedicated to her journey called www.pinkytri.com. ; "Being named an Amoena Ambassador through Mission Strength provides another platform from which to build and raise awareness. I take pride in the title SURVIVOR and will never take it lightly or for granted."

Ginger Johnson, diagnosed at 31, was pregnant with her third child when she began her battle. She currently runs the non-profit www.happychemo.com and is affiliated with www.standuptocancer.com. ; Her newest endeavor is writing a monthly newsletter called Utah Cancer Connections.  Says Johnson, "I really want women to know that their worth is magnified as they endure trials and overcome them, that their worth is divinely given and doesn't change with or without breasts."  In addition to her many endeavors, she is also working with the Utah Department of Health on a mammography initiative www.getscreenedutah.com.

Eden Lackey, 36, received her breast cancer diagnosis at the age of 32.  When she was initially diagnosed she desperately wanted a support system and to connect with other women that were her age.  She and her friends are currently working on a start-up called "S.O.U.L. Inc.", Searching for Opportunities to Uplift your Life, that will host seminars and retreats for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, in an effort to uplift and inspire women going through this struggle.  She is also a part of a support group and online forum called "Pink Ribbon Cowgirls", and feels that the Mission Strength ambassador opportunity will be a platform from which to create more awareness for young women. "Iwant to show women what strength and perseverance look like. I want to let them know that no matter what kind of scars we have… We are all still beautiful!"

The three winners will each enjoy:  A $10,000 donation to YSC by Amoena made on behalf of each of them.
