Spiceworks' New Android and iOS Mobile Apps Help IT Professionals Manage Technology Environments While on the Go

Company Also Introduces Spiceworks 7.2 to Simplify Remote Troubleshooting and Cloud Services Management

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - May 13, 2014) - Today at its third annual SpiceWorld London conference, Spiceworks announced new Android and iOS mobile applications to give IT professionals the tools they need to connect with peers, read the latest IT content, and manage their technology environment while on the go. The company also introduced new features for its server-based application including the ability for IT professionals to support end-users through a remote desktop connection. Together, the updates give Spiceworks users new ways to manage their IT environment and support end-users wherever they are.

"Spiceworks is providing IT professionals with the tools, content and community they need to do their jobs every day," said Sanjay Castelino, vice president of Marketing at Spiceworks. "Our new applications help reduce and streamline the number of management tasks IT professionals have to contend with regardless of their location or the type of device they're using."

New mobile apps help IT professionals manage their networks and connect with peers while on the run

Spiceworks is introducing new Google Android and Apple iOS mobile applications IT professionals can use to access the network inventory, help desk and IT community they need to do their jobs. The mobile applications connect to users' existing Spiceworks installations and provide real-time updates on new devices and software on the network, end-user support requests, and conversations happening among millions of peers in the professional network for IT. Mobile enhancements include:

  • Community access - For the first time, IT professionals can now use Spiceworks' mobile applications to access the latest technology news and more than 400,000 discussions between peers and technology brands in the Spiceworks network.
  • New user interface - User interface improvements including an updated look and feel, navigation sidebar, and pull-to-refresh features help users more intuitively find the information they need.
  • Help desk features - IT professionals can now use Spiceworks' mobile applications to comment on as well as add time and purchasing information to help desk tickets. Additionally, new push notifications keep IT professionals up-to-date on new and ongoing end-user support requests.

The new Spiceworks mobile app for devices running Android 4.0 and later will be available in the Google Play store this month. Spiceworks for iOS-based devices will also be available in Apple's App Store this month.

Spiceworks 7.2 adds advanced troubleshooting capabilities

Spiceworks also released version 7.2 of its free IT management application, which includes new features that help users streamline and automate their local and cloud environments. Spiceworks now enables IT professionals to diagnose and remotely connect to end-user devices directly from its inventory application, and help desk tickets can be automatically created based on device alerts. This enables technicians to address issues before they happen. Finally, Spiceworks has added the ability to remotely deploy its cloud scanning technology to multiple devices automatically. This helps IT professionals stay up-to-speed on the cloud services being accessed across their network.
