Contiki Continues to Give Back to Ocean Conservation with Launch of Storytellers Video

For every 250,000 view benchmark, Contiki pledges to sponsor another turtle in their partnership with The Sea Turtle Conservancy in Tortuguero, Costa Rica

Anaheim, Calif., May 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- With the belief that storytelling has the powerful ability to inspire change, Contiki Vacations has released an inspiring new campaign video for their recent Earth Month adventure to Costa Rica (contiki.com/storytellers). Featuring a group of 12 young storytellers from around the world, the short film highlights the newest Contiki Cares partnership with The Sea Turtle Conservancy, weaving a tale of conservation, adventure and the privilege that young travelers have to give back to the places they travel to.

To encourage viewers to share the video with their peers and raise awareness of the human dangers currently facing sea turtles, Contiki had pledged to sponsor a turtle as each 250,000 view benchmark is reached. The sponsorship funds raised are supplementary to the turtle Contiki is already sponsoring in the Tour de Turtles, an annual event in which researchers track the migration of sea turtles in order to better understand their nesting habits.

"The storytellers were so inspired by their journey throughout Costa Rica and it showed through the incredible stories they each told in their own unique way," said Alastair Campbell, Contiki Global Brand Director. "Now through this new video, we hope to not only raise more funds for our conservation project with The Sea Turtle Conservancy, but also to continue raising awareness surrounding the issues facing sea turtles and how their endangerment affects all life on earth."

The Storytellers representing the United States included graphic designer and mobile photographer Elise Swopes (best known as @Swopes on Instagram) from Chicago, IL., and the Matador/Contiki competition winner Melissa Wozniak, a writer and amateur photographer hailing from New York City.

It was up to them to tell the story - now it's up to you to share it.
