CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 21, 2014) - The Board of Directors of the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) welcomes Diana Krecsy as President and CEO effective May 26, 2014. In her previous role as CEO of the Calgary Drug Treatment Court Society (CDTCS), she was instrumental in making sustainable changes that benefited vulnerable Calgarians, the justice, human services and health systems, and the community. Prior to this, she was the CEO of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Nunavut.
"Diana is a solutions-focused leader who can motivate partners around a collective vision," said Alan Norris, Chair of the CHF Board. "Her drive to foster healthy and productive communities makes her an excellent fit to advance Calgary's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness."
In the first six years of the 10 Year Plan, the CHF housed with support more than 5,000 people, stopped the growth in homelessness and built a more coordinated homeless-serving system. An updated 10 Year Plan will be released in the early fall, allowing Diana to fully engage in the work done so far and permitting further research and consultation.
Diana has more than 25 years of leadership experience, spanning health services, non-profits and academia. In addition to her leadership of the CDTCS and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, NWT and Nunavat, Diana was a tenured nurse educator at Mount Royal University. She is a registered nurse and holds a graduate degree in Education. Diana received the Alberta Premier's Award of Excellence in 2009 for her leadership in the Alberta Provincial Stroke Strategy. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Calgary Home Front Society.
The CHF leads implementation of Calgary's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness in partnership with the homeless-serving agencies, the private sector, government partners, the faith community and other foundations. For more information, visit www.calgaryhomeless.com.
