PORTLAND, OR, May 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Orchestrate (Orchestrate.io), a managed database service that combines several NoSQL databases behind a single API, is proud to announce that Adam DuVander has joined the company as Developer Relations Director. In this role, he is responsible for driving the adoption of Orchestrate amongst developers and growing its user base, will build a global developer advocate team, create developer resources such as documentation and content, and be an active spokesperson for Orchestrate at industry events.
DuVander is a "fluent speaker of developer" and has a diverse background evangelizing new Web development technologies. He has written about APIs and developer tools as a journalist for over a decade, serving as Executive Editor at ProgrammableWeb, and as a reporter for Wired Magazine and Web Monkey. He's also a mapping and location expert, and authored the book Map Scripting 101. Most recently, DuVander served as Developer Communications Director at email deliverability company, SendGrid.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Adam to our growing team," said Antony Falco, CEO and cofounder of Orchestrate. "The growth of Orchestrate depends largely on earning the respect of the developer community and demonstrating our value. Adam is not only liked and respected by his peers, but has deep experience as a developer advocate, writer, and organizer, making him a perfect match for this critical role."
"Orchestrate is building a next-generation database service for developers," said Adam DuVander. "Most applications need at least one database. The more effort that goes into setting up, administering and scaling the database, the less attention the developers can pay to core functionality of the application. I'm looking forward to helping shape and share the message so developers can be more productive and creative."
DuVander holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Math, Rhetoric and Media Studies from Willamette University, and currently sits on its Alumni Association Board of Directors. An active member in the Portland technology community, he additionally founded Portland Web Innovators, Demolicious Portland and mentors early-stage startups at the Portland Incubator Experiment (Pie).
About Orchestrate
Orchestrate provides a simple RESTful API service that eliminates the need for developers to operate their own databases in production. Powered by best-of-breed NoSQL databases, it unifies full-text search, social graph, key/value document and time-ordered event queries in a single interface, eliminating the operational and financial burden of deploying databases when both building new applications and adding new features to existing ones. Behind the scenes, Orchestrate handles the complex task of building, operating, and scaling a high performance, fault tolerant data layer. Founded in 2013, Orchestrate is based in Portland, Oregon, and is backed by Frontline Ventures, Resonant Venture Partners, Trifork and True Ventures.
