HAMILTON, N.J., May 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Northeast Spa & Pool Association (NESPA) has expanded its hands-on training center to include a simulation of a concrete constructed pool. The pool structure was built in layers and will be used on training courses to demonstrate the correct way to construct a concrete pool.
"NESPA has found that creating real world, hands-on experience in our education offerings, not only enhances the class experience, but opens the door to a more detailed discussion between instructors and students," said Paulette Pitrak, NESPA Deputy Executive Director. "The concrete pool display provides us with even more opportunities to connect with students and give them the skills they need to be successful in the industry."
The concrete pool structure was designed and constructed by NESPA member Anthony & Sylvan Pools of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The structure, located at the association's headquarters and training facility in Hamilton, New Jersey, will be used in education courses offered throughout the year.
"When we learned that NESPA was interested in a creating hands-on learning environment for constructing a concrete pool, we proudly stood up and offered our help," said Alan Walker, Vice President - Operations for Anthony & Sylvan Pools and the Vice President of the Penn Jersey Pool and Spa Association (a Chapter of NESPA). "Having a better educated, more experienced work force in the industry benefits everyone and we were glad to donate our time, experience and know-how to make it happen."
The concrete pool joined other hands-on training components offered by NESPA including a vinyl liner pool with equipment packs, a spa with equipment packs and pool covers with anchors.
