WAYNE, PA and WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Jun 2, 2014) - Medecision, the leader in population health management and connected care solutions for risk-bearing entities like provider- and payer-sponsored ACOs, hospitals, IDNs and health plans, has announced that a team of the Company's innovators has been selected to compete in the Health Data Consortium's Code-a-Palooza 2014 Challenge at Health Datapalooza V. Code-a-Palooza is run in collaboration with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Medecision will present "Aerial™ Limelight," its intuitive "shop-for-a-doc" app that uses medical group quality and cost performance data from CMS and other public and private sources to simplify and streamline the process of finding quality, affordable care. The challenge begins today in Washington, DC.
A recent U.S. consumer survey revealed that access to high-quality, affordable healthcare is a top concern of Americans.1 For more than 25 years, Medecision has focused on liberating healthcare by connecting siloed, fragmented health data, systems and stakeholders. The team of Medecision innovators wasted no time in rising to the Code-a-Palooza Challenge, which tasked participants with creating tools that leverage open access to complex data from multiple sources -- including newly available Medicare physician data released by CMS -- to support engagement, greater consumer choice and shared clinical decision-making. The result is Aerial Limelight, an app designed to help consumers make smarter choices about practice differences, healthcare education and shared clinical decision- making. Aerial Limelight:
- Simplifies and empowers advanced search for top-performing physician practices based on distance, quality, cost and in-network participation
- Delivers the insight physicians and medical groups need to differentiate and compete against their peers, embracing the new paradigm in a consumer-driven market
- Facilitates "soft steerage" of patients to participating in-network medical groups
"Medecision sponsors frequent high-adrenaline Innovation Challenges for our employees, inspiring them to push past the status quo, to develop amazing prototypes that will further our collective mission to liberate healthcare everywhere," said Deborah M. Gage, president and CEO, Medecision. "We are thrilled that one of our Innovation Challenge teams has been selected to participate at the national Code-a-Palooza for the second consecutive year, and are looking forward to this week's celebration of platforms that support the high-performing, quality healthcare consumer experience of tomorrow."
As a Code-a-Palooza finalist, Medecision will present a live demo of Aerial Limelight before a review panel in a session open to Health Datapalooza V attendees from 1:00-2:30 p.m. on Monday, June 2. Winners will be announced at the end of the conference on Tuesday, June 3.
