VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - June 17, 2014) - Calls for submissions were issued today across the Province for the annual BC Creative Achievement Awards for First Nations' Art and the BC Aboriginal Business Awards. These awards celebrate and recognize the achievements of British Columbia artists and entrepreneurs in the First Nation and Aboriginal communities.
The First Nations Art Awards, generously sponsored by Polygon, provides up to four awards valued at $2,500 each. Artists, including carvers, printmakers, weavers, jewellers, painters, and media artists, working in either traditional or contemporary First Nations' art are eligible. Submissions are permitted from either the artists themselves or from nominators. To be eligible, artists must be affiliated with a BC First Nation. The deadline for submissions is July 18, 2014. Recipients will be honoured at a special reception and exhibition in Fall, 2014.
The BC Aboriginal Business Awards, now in their sixth year, highlight the work and success of Aboriginal entrepreneurs of all sizes and types including small, medium and large companies, joint venture firms and community-owned businesses in any field of endeavor. The deadline for submissions is July 25, 2014 and the Gala Dinner celebrating Aboriginal entrepreneurs will be held on October 15, 2014.
Both awards are presented by the British Columbia Achievement Foundation, an independent foundation established and endowed by the province in 2003 to celebrate excellence in the arts, humanities, enterprise, and community service, presents the awards.
