AUSTIN, Texas, June 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The McAllen, TX, metro area tops SpareFoot's new list of America's Top 15 Hubs for Solo Entrepreneurs.
To compile the list, SpareFoot looked not only at how the number of solo entrepreneurs, or "solopreneurs," has grown recently in the 100 most populated U.S. metro areas, but also how well solopreneurs are faring. Solopreneurs own and operate businesses that don't have any employees.
SpareFoot ranked the metro areas by examining five economic measures related to solopreneurs. Data came from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
SpareFoot's analysis found that the number of solopreneurs isn't growing at a breakneck pace in McAllen, but these entrepreneurs' businesses are performing well financially. Solopreneurs also make a substantial contribution to the McAllen area's economy.
