ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Jun 25, 2014) - Instacart (www.Instacart.com), the only service that can deliver groceries from multiple local stores within an hour, announced today that it has launched Atlanta's first one-hour grocery delivery service. Beginning today, customers can order groceries from both Costco and Kroger stores and have them delivered in as little as one hour. Customers do not need to be a Costco member to order from Costco on Instacart. Additional stores will be added in the coming weeks, and customers can combine items from multiple stores into one order.
Atlanta is Instacart's twelfth city, and expansion into the city will bring the service to all corners of the United States as Instacart expands into the Southeast for the very first time.
According to Atlanta City Launcher Matt O'Connor, "Atlanta is a young city with a tech savvy culture and one of the fastest growing populations in the U.S.," said O'Connor. "It also is booming with busy young professionals who appreciate the convenience of online grocery ordering and super-fast delivery to their doorstep after a long day at work, especially in the stifling heat of these upcoming summer months."
Instacart customers who order on launch day will also receive a free month of deliveries.
Instacart will initially be serving the neighborhoods Inside the Perimeter, north of I-20. These include Buckhead, Midtown, Downtown, Decatur, Virginia-highland, Brookhaven, West Atlanta, Lenox, and Old Fourth Ward. The company will be expanding to areas Outside the Perimeter in the coming weeks. For a map of Instacart's coverage in Atlanta check here.
Originally launched in San Francisco and since expanded into many other major cities, Instacart has disrupted the traditional grocery delivery space with its crowdsourced labor force dubbed "Personal Shoppers" who shop for and deliver grocery orders providing their own transportation in as little as one hour. This eliminates the need for costly infrastructure such as inventory, warehouses, trucks and full-time drivers.
Customers can open an account at www.Instacart.com, and get free delivery on their first order of $35 or more. Instacart also offers an Amazon-Prime like service called Instacart Express -- an annual membership that eliminates delivery fees for all orders of $35 or more. The cost is just $99. Customers can sign up for a free two-week trial at www.instacart.com/express.
