PHOENIX, June 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sustainable glycol technologies leader GlyEco, Inc. (OTCQB:GLYE) ("GlyEco" or the "Company") has expanded its services into the Canadian market and is now registered to recycle waste glycols from customers in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.
GlyEco is the only registered antifreeze processor in Canada capable of recycling all types of waste glycol to meet ASTM E1177 standards. The Company has begun processing waste antifreeze from Canadian customers and intends to expand its services to additional glycol waste-creating industries. Canada has stringent regulations governing the disposal of all types of waste glycols.
"We are very proud to announce GlyEco's first step into the international arena with our expansion into Canada," stated John Lorenz, CEO of GlyEco. "Canada has instituted tight regulations regarding waste glycol disposal and backed up those laws with a comprehensive program to facilitate proper collection and handling of this hazardous material. We are pleased to be a part of this effort towards sustainable glycol use, and we believe our program will prevent multiple millions of gallons of waste from reaching lakes, streams and fresh water systems."
GlyEco will use its patent-pending technology to recycle waste glycols from Canadian customers. Waste glycols will be recycled at the Company's South Dakota, Minnesota, Indiana and New Jersey processing centers.
Lorenz continued, "Four of our current processing centers are conveniently located to serve the Canadian market, and we've positioned ourselves to provide some unique advantages to our business partners in the region, helping them overcome challenges with cost saving solutions. Leveraging our years of expertise in the collection and handling of hazardous glycol material, we intend to magnify our efforts and expand our services to additional waste glycol streams as we grow our presence throughout Canada."
About GlyEco
GlyEco is a green chemistry company with a patent-pending technology for transforming a hazardous waste into green products. GlyEco Technology™ has the unique ability to clean the polluted glycols from all five waste-producing industries: HVAC, Textiles, Automotive, Airline and Medical. This technology recycles waste glycol to meet ASTM Type 1 specifications – the same level of purity expected of refinery-grade glycols.
This patent-pending technology enables our clients to handle the removal of their waste glycol in a responsible and environmentally safe manner. Our clients can treat glycols as a more sustainable resource, recycling and re-using waste glycols repeatedly. Since most polluted glycol is disposed of in our surface waters - which can have devastating results for the environment, especially aquatic life - the GlyEco Technology™ solution gives our customers a way to reduce waste while caring for the environment, while reducing their costs.
About Glycol Recycling
Recycling waste glycols presents an inventive solution to supply shortages and increasing costs for refinery-produced material. Global consumption for refinery-produced ethylene glycol is over 5.5 billion gallons per year and climbing. GlyEco Technology™ is uniquely able to process all five sources of waste glycols, opening new avenues of supply. With proper handling, glycols can be recycled and reused indefinitely, creating the opportunity to utilize this valuable material as a predominately sustainable resource.
