FARGO, ND--(Marketwired - Jul 30, 2014) - The new Fargo Startup House is looking for its first class of tech entrepreneurs, hoping to attract participants who want to impact the world through technology and innovation. The latest in a series of developments focused on cultivating a startup community, Fargo Startup House will bring six world-class tech entrepreneurs at a time to Fargo to live and work together as they build innovation-focused businesses.
"The Fargo Startup House is an attempt to accelerate both the number of early-stage, fast growth, innovation driven startups based in Fargo-Moorhead, and the pace at which those startups can succeed in having an impact on the world," said Miguel Danielson, founder of Fargo Startup House and one of several founders of Emerging Prairie, a digital media and events company committed to informing, connecting and activating the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the upper Great Plains.
Fargo Startup House will provide participants with rent and utilities, access to nationally recognized mentors, professional services, investors, and business leaders, at no cost other than a commitment to live and work on their businesses full time during their participation in the program. Entrepreneurs have access to gigabit, fiber-optic internet service to the house, one of the only examples of private, non-corporate residential fiber optic internet service in North America.
The inaugural application process began July 2 and ends August 10, with the first class of participants expected to move into the house beginning on September 1, 2014. Applications will be accepted for future classes once the first class is filled. Participants will be selected based on their talent and skills, as well as on the expected impact their business will have on the world. The program will include an initial residency of six months that can be extended for an additional six months if adequate progress is demonstrated.
The Fargo Startup House stands as the first accelerator-type concept in the Fargo-Moorhead region, and is the latest in a series of developments across the community that are cultivating and supporting the region's startup community, including the imminent opening of CoCo Fargo, the launch of 1 Million Cups last January, TedXFargo just held this July, and the second annual Startup Weekend held in March.
