LIFT Philanthropy Partners appoints Lisa Lalande as Chief Development Officer

VANCOUVER, B.C., Aug. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bruce Dewar, president and chief executive officer of LIFT Philanthropy Partners, is pleased to announce the appointment Lisa Lalande as chief development officer, a newly created role that comes as part of an organizational restructure for LIFT.

LIFT is a unique philanthropic effort that strengthens the capacity and effectiveness of organizations committed to advancing social change through increased access to health, skills development, education and employment. Through its innovative model, LIFT is working to ensure that all Canadians not only participate in our country's prosperity, but grow and support it for generations to come. As chief development officer, Lisa will lead investor development activities for the organization. She will work with industry leaders who want to invest more strategically to have greater impact on entrenched social issues in Canada. She will engage Canadian philanthropists in LIFT's efforts to pioneer the venture philanthropy movement in the country. Lisa was previously the vice president of strategic partnerships for LIFT.

Lisa is a highly motivated, results-oriented business leader with 17 years of experience in fund development, marketing communications, and program development. She has held a diverse range of positions in both the public and private sectors with organizations including CIBC, Mount Sinai Hospital and Assante Financial Management (now part of CI Financial). Immediately prior to joining LIFT, Lisa was the vice president of national partnerships & giving programs for Habitat for Humanity Canada where she led fund development for the Canadian association. Under her leadership, the team successfully raised $60 million, achieving 62% growth in three years. She also spearheaded the development of programs to support capacity building for the local offices, enabling the affiliates to become more effective and sustainable. During her tenure, the organization achieved record level outcomes in both domestic and international homebuilding. In 2012, Habitat for Humanity Canada was named as one of the top 100 charities in Canada by MoneySense Magazine, earning an A+ for overall charity efficiency.

"Lisa has been a great addition to our organization, and her new role supports our strategy to carefully build on our existing success by adding proven leaders in the sector that can help us achieve our long-term objectives of driving permanent and lasting social change," said Bruce Dewar.
