CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Sept. 2, 2014) - Preparations are underway for the 10th year of the city's largest single day food drives on Saturday, September 21st.
- Calgarians are encouraged to watch for information and donation bags on their doors starting Monday, September 15.
- Fill the bag with non-perishable food items and leave on your front doorstep for 8:00 am pick-up.
- Make sure the donation is visible so the volunteers can see it, as there will be no door-knocking.
This one day food drive happens at an important time of year when the Food Bank is heading into a period of high demand. "We have already seen a 10% increase in the number of clients this past summer so the donations we receive at this food drive will help immensely." Keoma Duce, Development Coordinator Community Initiatives at the Calgary Food Bank explains, "Back-to-school expenses, the completion of many summer jobs and the high cost of living in Calgary contribute to many stretched budgets at this time of year."
