PLACERVILLE, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 3, 2014) - The Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center is hosting the All Nations Run on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Shingle Springs Rancheria in Placerville, CA. The 3K & 5K run-walk event includes "optional obstacles" which are challenges along the course. The challenges include climbing over and through obstacles as well as an optional mud pit. The trail event is family friendly.
Entry fees are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Entry includes a t-shirt, medal and BBQ lunch featuring Olympian Billy Mills. Registration opens at 8:30 am. The race starts at 10 am.
This year, Billy Mills celebrates the 50th Anniversary of his historic gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. To this day, he is the only person in the western hemisphere to win gold in the 10,000 meters. Mills is a member of the Oglala Lakota (Sioux) Tribe and grew up on the impoverished Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He lost his mother when he was only 8, and his father just a few years later. Running gave Billy an escape and a dream. He'll tell his inspirational story at the BBQ after the run.
