OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - In celebration of National Payroll Week (NPW), Paycom continued its tradition of embracing a fun workplace culture while also giving back to the Oklahoma community. Paycom celebrated with a week full of employee activities and competitions, including a charity drive that collected and donated 5,763 canned goods to The Salvation Army of Central Oklahoma.
"I want to thank our employees for their attitude of servitude and selflessness," said Stacey Pezold, executive vice president of operations at Paycom. "We know that these cans are going to go to very needy families in our local community and we couldn't be more pleased to partner with the Salvation Army."
Paycom's annual NPW festivities incorporated the canned food drive benefiting local agencies four years ago and has grown in size ever since. This year's total surpassed last year by nearly 1,400 canned goods.
Paycom's donations came at just the right time for The Salvation Army, which is transitioning to its new facility and without perishable food items for its pantry.
"The good news is we will be opening up a client choice food pantry in the coming months and my shelves right now in the pantry are empty, but they won't be empty for long," said The Salvation Army's Maj. Carlyle Gargis. "Thank you so much to Paycom for helping to fill our shelves."
From Sept. 2 to Sept. 5, Paycom employees teamed up to participate in Western-themed competitions, including a talent show, relay races and canoe races in the Paycom pond. More than 21 teams went head-to-head as part of the canned food drive portion.
