Long Island Plastic Surgeon to Present on Intraoral Facial Injection Technique

GARDEN CITY, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 11, 2014) - Dr. Vincent DiGregorio, plastic surgeon in Long Island, will be presenting at the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons (NESPS) 31st Annual Meeting being held September 12-14, 2014. The presentation will cover the innovative technique of administering injections through the inside of the mouth for facial volumization, a technique he developed. While traditional methods of facial injections require going through the skin, Dr. DiGregorio explains that by administering injections intraorally, the treatment is less painful and there is minimal bruising or bleeding.

In Dr. DiGregorio's presentation, "Facial Volumization Via the Intraoral Route: A Report of Over 1000 Procedures," he will discuss a chart review of more than 1000 procedures where facial volumization was performed by a surgeon through the mouth. "My talk will justify the conclusion that intraoral facial volumization is the safer and more patient-friendly route. It eliminates needle puncture marks and bruising."

The surgeon notes that injecting soft tissue fillers is the second most popular procedure in plastic surgery. With such options as Sculptra® Aesthetic, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, and Radiesse™, Dr. DiGregorio explains that patients can achieve a more desirable contour to various facial areas. He says that typically, these are injected through the skin. However, Dr. DiGregorio reveals that while there is a lower rate of complications with this method, local reaction rates are much higher, with 93% of injections causing symptoms like bruising and swelling. During his presentation, the surgeon will highlight the benefits of intraoral injections compared to the transdermal technique.

The NESPS annual meeting is one of the largest plastic surgery gatherings that occurs each year. It is structured as a forum designed to further surgeons' knowledge of blending art and science in surgery. Dr. DiGregorio will be speaking on the first day of the meeting, Friday, September 12, from 3-4pm, at the Providence Biltmore in Providence, Rhode Island.
