Definition 6 awarded Primetime Emmy for work on HBO's Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide

New York, Sept. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HBO and Definition 6 received a Primetime Emmy award for "Outstanding Achievement in Interactive Media - User Experience and Visual Design" for HBO's Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide. This honor brings the combined total to 20 Emmys awarded to the Definition 6 team for outstanding work done for clients.

For the launch of season four of Game of Thrones, HBO engaged Definition 6 to build a digital extension of the show that, with HBO's stunning imagery and engaging video content, would continue the experience from the television screen to second screen through a robust, fully-customized content management system.

The Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide is an interactive companion piece and fantastic example of a multimedia narrative; by featuring exclusive video content from the show combined with HBO's remarkable creative imagery and digital storytelling through bios, maps, and recaps, the guide offers users a truly innovative way to better understand and engage with the show's complex story.

The statuette was presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony held on August 16, 2014, at the NOKIA Theater in Los Angeles. This first ceremony of the 66th Emmy Awards recognizes technical achievements along with giving out some acting prizes.

Definition 6's Chief Executive Officer Jeff Katz and Creative Director Doug Dimon attended the ceremony to accept the award on behalf of the agency team. The Definition 6 team that worked closely with HBO on Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide included Frank Boutwell, Doug Dimon, Julia Mooradian, Matt Timpson, Brian Desarro, and Walker Hutchinson.

"This is an important milestone for Definition 6. To win both Primetime and Daytime Emmy awards in the same year is unique for a non-broadcast or cable network. This is a terrific accomplishment for the agency," said Frank Radice, Definition 6's Expert in Residence. Radice previously served as President and Chief Marketing Officer of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

This summer was highlighted by multiple Emmy wins for Definition 6. In June, the team received three statuettes at the 41st Daytime Emmy Awards for work on the PBS show Sesame Street. Definition 6's Senior Editor John Tierney received his 13th Emmy award and Senior Audio Engineer Michael Barrett received two Daytime Emmy awards, bringing his career total to five Emmy awards received. Definition 6 has been awarded 16 Emmys for work on Sesame Street, with a combined total of 20 Emmys for all client work.
