WESTON, Fla., Oct. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Since June of 2012, Florida based GFS Corp, has been working with Alpha Natural Resources converting what has become the world's first fleet of mine haul trucks that use natural gas as a fuel. The success of that program has led to other mines adopting the technology in order to save on fuel costs and reduce emissions.
In anticipation of the existing program's expansion and expected orders from other mines in the PRB, GFS is opening a new service facility on Highway 14 in Gillette. The 4300 square foot facility will serve as a base of operations for GFS Corp's fleet of service vehicles and warehouse for spare parts inventory to support the converted haul truck fleets.
"This new facility in Gillette shows our continued commitment to the Powder River Basin", said Kerry Hackney, Vice President of Operations for GFS Corp. "We launched our EVO-MT™ System here and are determined to provide all of our customers in the PRB with superior service and support."
To date, GFS Corp has converted trucks at two Powder River Basin mines, Alpha Natural Resource's Eagle Butte Mine and Arch Coal's Black Thunder Mine. With the large concentration of haul trucks in the PRB, GFS Corp anticipates high demand for its systems in this area.
