NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 17, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 44th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists will be held in New Orleans from Nov. 5-8, 2014. More than 1,200 dental professionals will gather to hear world-class speakers present new science about complex oral health topics and share global treatment options and best practices to improve patient outcomes. The American College of Prosthodontists advocates for the valuable role that prosthodontists play on the dental team to improve patient outcomes.
Prosthodontists screen for and diagnose oral health issues that patients present and decide the best treatment option. Applying 3-4 years of advanced training in digital dentistry and oral health issues, prosthodontists lead and unite multi-disciplinary dental care teams to achieve improved patient outcomes – a healthy mouth, a beautiful smile, and teeth that last and function properly. Informed patients opt to go to a dental specialist – a prosthodontist – for optimal care.
"Challenging cases that need difficult decisions often occur and are what drew many of us to this specialty. The Annual Session will give us the opportunity to continue updating our training and learning how others have applied innovative scientific solutions that improve patient outcomes," said the session's Program Chair Carl Driscoll, DMD, FACP.
"As the premier prosthodontic meeting of the year, speakers will perform critical analyses on topics including systemic and oral health challenges, treatment rationales, and the integration of digital technology into prosthodontic practice."
The ACP Annual Session provides learning that can transform the effectiveness of specialized dental practices based in prosthodontics. Practitioners will share how they have handled the most challenging topics in prosthodontics, and how they've improved their practices with new technologies for diagnosis and treatment. Dentistry has taken incredible leaps forward in the past decade.
Prosthodontists are at the forefront of this innovation, applying their advanced training and commitment to life-long learning while using state-of-the-art digital dentistry tools to help patients save time, visits and expenses. Patients are opting to go to a prosthodontist.
Prosthodontists are specialized dentists with advanced training in oral health issues who are committed to improving patient results. From implants, crowns, veneers and tooth whitening to full-mouth reconstruction, prosthodontists are specialists in digital dentistry and CAD/CAM solutions. The ACP is the only prosthodontic specialty organization whose membership is based solely on education credentials. ACP members must be in or have completed an ADA-accredited advanced education program in prosthodontics.
