Frozen Isn't Just for the Kids This Halloween

New VGMarket Poll Reveals That Adults Are Also Obsessed With Disney's Frozen; Elsa, Anna and Olaf Top Halloween Poll's Must-Have Costumes in 2014


BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 22, 2014) - Disney's Frozen continues to reign supreme in 2014, but it's not just the kids who plan to dress up as their favorite Frozen characters this Halloween. This year the grown-ups prove they too are infatuated with the movie; according to a new poll by entertainment research firm VGMarket, a whopping 58% of adults who plan to wear a costume this Halloween are considering a Frozen character. 25% of the men polled are considering dressing up as Olaf, while women are split between Anna (37%) and Elsa (33%).

The poll also found that 79% of children are considering (or have already purchased) a Frozen costume this year. In order of popularity, Elsa's leading the pack at 37%, followed by Anna at 29% and Olaf at 24%.

"The ongoing appeal of Frozen is that it resonates with children and adults alike. It is a rare example of a true family movie, one that speaks to everyone regardless of age or gender," said Michael Gluck, Founder and President of VGMarket, about the poll. He added, "The poll shows that parents will be spending money on Frozen items for their entire family -- not just the children -- this year."

The poll also gauged Halloween-related activities:

  • 91% of respondents plan to buy candy to hand out for Halloween.
  • Those buying candy spend an average of $20.00-$29.99/year on Halloween candy.
  • 45% of parents with kids under 18 years old plan to trick or treat this year.
  • 26% of those polled stated their favorite part of Halloween is handing out candy.
  • 17% love to get their scare on by watching Halloween/horror movies.
