SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Janesville Acoustics, a Jason company (Nasdaq:JASN) and a leading global producer of acoustical fiber insulation and molded fiber and die-cut products, is pleased to announce that its Old Fort, North Carolina plant has surpassed more than 1 million work hours without a lost-time injury. This represents a new record among the organization's seven worldwide manufacturing facilities.
OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) defines a lost-time injury as one that causes at least a single full-day work absence. The last time the Old Fort plant experienced such an event was more than two years ago. Plant manager Roy Heeralall attributes that to a cultural emphasis on safety.
"A key part of accomplishing this milestone is the 'buddy system' that we utilize, which pairs seasoned employees with newer ones and requires these teams to continuously watch out for one another," said Heeralall. "Our employees are excited about this accomplishment and have already set their sites on reaching 2 million hours."
"Safety is the top priority at each of our facilities," added David Cataldi, president of Janesville Acoustics. "While we have developed effective protocols and guidelines intended to minimize the risk of injury, our employees should be commended for their commitment to implementing them so effectively."
Janesville Acoustics' Old Fort plant was established in 1988 and employs 220 men and women.
