DAYTON, Ohio, Nov. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading National Security company delivering advanced engineering services and product solutions to Defense, Intelligence, Special Operations Forces, Homeland Security and Federal agencies, announced today that on September 9, Barry Polakowski, Senior Director of MacB's Secure Computing and Communications Division, was a featured speaker at the Ohio Defense Connects' Ohio Cyber Dialogue with Industry conference. The event was held at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
In the wake of the Department of Defense's recently released Instruction on the Protection of Mission Critical Functions to Achieve Trusted Systems and Networks (DODI 5200.44), building trust into critical defense systems has become a National Imperative. During the presentation, entitled, "Field Programmable Gate Array Trust," Polakowski defined Trust, gave an overview of the threat, provided examples of what an attacker can do to a compromised system and delved into concrete solutions that are available today to mitigate the threat.
"As outlined in DODI 5200.44, the ability to detect the occurrence of malicious functions is critical to achieve Trusted Systems and Networks (TSN)," said Polakowski. "At MacB, we have been at the forefront of developing Trust solutions for FPGAs and ASICs for over 10 years to ensure that microelectronic devices, firmware and third-party IP do only what they are designed to do… no more, no less."
