Grenada and Windhoek: First Condor Flights From Frankfurt

Leisure Carrier Adds Windhoek to Year-Round Schedule / Grenada Back in Condor's Long-Haul Program

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY--(Marketwired - Nov 10, 2014) - At 09:25 a.m. today, the first Condor flight took off from Frankfurt (FRA) heading to Windhoek (WDH) in Namibia. This is not only the first time that the Boeing 767, registration D-ABUA, is flying to Namibia for Condor, but it is also the leisure carrier's first long-haul aircraft in the new gray-and-yellow Condor livery with a glowing Sunny Heart on its tail. As of winter 2014/15, Condor will be taking passengers to the Namibian capital on Mondays and Thursdays. The direct connection will be offered in summer 2015 on Tuesdays and Saturdays, making Windhoek a year-round Condor destination. This means the leisure carrier is adding yet another African destination to its current ones in South Africa, Tanzania, and Kenya.

Uwe Balser, Condor's Managing Director Operations; Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Senior Executive Vice President at Fraport AG; the Namibian Honorary Consul Eike Becker-Krüger, Maureen Posthuma, European Director of the Namibia Tourism Board, and all passengers on the flight joined a safari party at the gate, at which the passengers were all surprised with a delicious first-flight cake in a Namibian design. After traditionally cutting the ribbon, Uwe Balser, Managing Director Operations at Condor said, "Our first Boeing 767 in the new Sunny Heart design has a brand new cabin, and is flying passengers to our new destination of Windhoek in Namibia today. This shows just how much effort Condor is putting into offering its passengers a broad route network to the most beautiful vacation destinations in the world, and providing them with a user-friendly product. Namibia is the perfect addition to our Africa program with the current destinations of Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, and, of course, Cape Town in South Africa, and Condor ensures that lovers of safaris, and of the African continent, are absolutely spoilt for choice."

Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Senior Executive Vice President at Fraport AG, said this to mark the occasion of the first flight: "We are delighted that by adding this fourth long-haul destination to its network, our home carrier has also added a further African destination to its offer from Frankfurt, and in doing so has also boosted Germany's most significant aviation hub. With 250 direct flights to destinations in 105 countries, Frankfurt is already one of the airports with the most connections in the world."

Situated at the heart of Namibia and with European and African influences, the capital Windhoek offers an insight into the country's highly diverse culture. The Namibians are proud of their country, and are only too pleased to share their enthusiasm and the Namibian "esprit" with visitors. Its central location makes Windhoek the perfect starting point for round trips and safaris. The apparently endless Namib Desert, deep canyons and vast savannahs, and the highly diverse animal world with elephants, lions, rhinoceroses and zebras don't only appeal to died-in-the-wool nature and animal lovers.

"Namibia is experiencing an increase in awareness as an authentic, sustainable and versatile boutique destination for visitors with a passion for culture, nature and animals," explained Maureen Posthuma, European Director of the Namibia Tourism Board. "The addition of Windhoek as a Condor destination is further confirmation of the growing interest in Namibia as a travel destination, and strengthens its connections to Europe. The new direct connection also creates positive impulses for the continuing touristic development of the country."

Condor passengers can buy an all-inclusive, one-way flight from Frankfurt to Windhoek for as little as EUR 379.99 in Economy Class, EUR 549.99 in Premium Economy Class and EUR 999.99 in Business Class.

The first Condor flight to Grenada (GND) took off from Frankfurt (FRA) on Saturday, 8 November. After a four-year break, the Caribbean island is now returning to the airline's winter 2014/15 schedule, and will be flying Saturdays from Frankfurt.

The tiny Caribbean state of Grenada offers visitors much more than just dreamy white beaches and turquoise water. Spectacular waterfalls, warm springs and crater lakes are just as impressive as the large landscapes of rain forests. There is also a wide variety of excursions: sailing trips, day trips out to the surrounding islands or boat trips to watch whales and dolphins in their natural habitat -- pleasant memories are guaranteed! And there's a good reason why Grenada is also called the spice island: the country is the leading manufacturer of nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon. Grenada's cuisine is further proof of this, and delights visitors with spicy meat and fish dishes -- and with the finest chocolate.

Condor passengers can buy an all-inclusive, one-way flight from Frankfurt to Grenada for as little as EUR 379.99 in Economy Class, EUR 549.99 in Premium Economy Class and EUR 1199.99 in Business Class.
