CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM) and Premier, Inc. (Nasdaq:PINC) have agreed to collaborate on the development of innovative clinical and operational models designed to improve healthcare quality, safety and value, as well as impact overall wellness.
The five-year agreement combines expertise and assets from JHM—among the world's leading academic medical centers—and Premier's industry-leading performance improvement analytics and services in order to jointly develop and implement:
- Educational and research projects that focus on areas of strategic importance to members of the Premier alliance;
- Clinical and other prospective research that leverages the Johns Hopkins Institutional Clinical and Translational Research program; and
- Broad, evidence-based analytical healthcare solutions and services that leverage data from Premier's integrated technology platform PremierConnect®.
"A central focus of the Johns Hopkins Medicine mission is to provide the best, evidence-based patient care possible and conducting research projects using performance improvement analytics will support that mission," said Jonathan Zenilman, MD, a professor of medicine, director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and executive medical director of Johns Hopkins Medicine Business Development and Strategic Alliances.
A number of JHM provider organizations have been Premier alliance members for more than a decade. In 2013, JHM expanded its relationship with Premier to support system-wide improvements in supply chain efficiency.
