HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Nov. 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Just in time for the holiday season, Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq:SHOS) announces that Sears Appliance & Hardware Stores, Sears Outlet Stores and Sears Home Appliance Showrooms nationwide will partner with the Make-A-Wish® foundation to help grant the wishes of two children suffering from life-threatening conditions.
In order to raise funds for the foundation to grant wishes to 5 year-old Evan, who is living with leukemia and wishes "to ride a steam engine through the snow," and to 7 year-old Emersyn, who is living with ataxia-telangiectasia and wishes "to fly with butterflies," the locations will offer the following fundraising promotions:
Wednesday, November 26 is Wish Wednesday – Customers are encouraged to donate $5 to Make-A-Wish in order to take advantage of the locations' Black Friday Deals early (from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.), avoiding the chaos and long lines on Thanksgiving and Black Friday while supporting a cause.
November 27 - December 1 – Customers who donate $10 with a minimum $10 purchase will receive a $20 Award Card to be used toward a future purchase, while quantities last; see store for details.
December 19 - December 23 – Customers who donate $10 with a minimum $10 purchase will receive a $20 Award Card to be used toward a future purchase, while quantities last; see store for details.
In addition, throughout the holiday season (November 2 – December 31), customers are invited to make incremental donations of $2, $5 or $10 in support of the fundraising efforts through the Make-A-Wish foundation for Evan and Emersyn.
"The holiday season tends to bring out the charitable character in us all, recognizing our own blessings and doing what we can to share with those who have found struggles. Three of our store formats partnering with Make-A-Wish foundation is not only reflective of this holiday spirit, but it gives our customers the opportunity to share their good fortune with children who are more than deserving," said David Buckley, Chief Marketing Officer of Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. "As a company, we are always looking for ways to help improve the lives of others, and we cannot think of a better way this holiday season than to help Evan ride a steam engine through the snow and to help fulfill Emersyn's wish to fly with butterflies."
Through November 2 - December 31, Sears Hometown & Outlet Stores, Inc. will donate 100 percent of customer donations to Make-A-Wish, with a minimum guarantee of $150,000 from all in-store holiday promotions. For more information, visit wish.org.
