FIDO Ready(TM) Products at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show

FIDO Alliance Members Demonstrate FIDO Authentication in Products Available Now

LAS VEGAS, NV and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 18, 2014) - CES -- The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance (http://www.fidoalliance.org/), an industry consortium revolutionizing online authentication with the first standards-based specifications, today announced FIDO Ready™ products on display at the 2015 International Consumers Electronics Show (CES), which is taking place in Las Vegas, NV from January 6-9, 2015. FIDO Alliance member organizations will demonstrate tested and certified FIDO Ready™ products available now to consumers, online service providers and enterprises.

Consumers can use FIDO Ready products now to login to Google sites and services through the Chrome browser. PayPal and Alipay offer secure payments using FIDO authentication in fingerprint sensors (fps) on Samsung Galaxy products, and now other devices equipped with fps. Options from biometrics, to hardware tokens, embedded chips, or microSD adaptations offer users many easy, secure ways to login and transact with sites, services, or cloud applications with FIDO authentication.

Final FIDO 1.0 specifications were published earlier this month enabling all kinds of devices, browsers, servers and client software to offer the option to use FIDO authentication instead of username-and-password. Prevailing password systems have proven to be complex to manage and susceptible to mass-scale attack and fraud. FIDO authentication equips users of online, mobile, and point-of-sale applications to access sites and services and confirm transactions with better authentication that is more secure, private, and easier-to-use.

FIDO Ready™ Products at CES
FIDO Alliance members AGNITiO, NXP Semiconductors, Sonavation, and Yubico will demonstrate FIDO Ready™ products and services that illustrate the value of more secure, private, and easier to use FIDO authentication.

Users are increasingly frustrated with having to manage and remember multiple passwords to access sites and services and confirm actions they take every day. Service providers have both the burden and risk associated with having to store and manage users' passwords that are increasingly vulnerable to theft and fraud. FIDO authentication overcomes prevailing reliance on passwords, by addressing the key pain points for both users and service providers. FIDO authentication is designed with a core focus on privacy -- all biometric and/or personally identifying information (PII) stays local on the user's device and is never shared to the cloud or over the network.

Nonintrusive and natural for everyone, voice biometrics authentication strikes the balance between consumer privacy, security and convenience.

About The FIDO Alliance
The FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance, www.fidoalliance.org, was formed in July 2012 to address the lack of interoperability among strong authentication technologies, and remedy the problems users face with creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. The Alliance is changing the nature of authentication by developing standards-based specifications for simpler, stronger authentication that define an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that reduce reliance on passwords. FIDO authentication is stronger, private, and easier to use when authenticating to online services.
