ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Military Family Association (NMFA), a nonprofit that works to strengthen and protect military families, is teaming up with Merry Maids, the nation's leading home cleaning company and part of the ServiceMaster (NYSE: SERV) family of brands, to bring holiday cheer to military families.
NMFA asked military families to submit photos of their messy homes on social media and to share why their family could use a free house cleaning from Merry Maids. The photos showed boxes left from packing and recent moves, messy kitchens and scattered living rooms.
"Military families go through a lot each year, and we are always looking for ways to help make their lives a little easier," said Joyce Raezer, NMFA Executive Director. "Especially around the holidays, we are excited to be working with Merry Maids on this endeavor and look forward to their continued support for military families."
The winners of the free housecleaning from Merry Maids were in Allen and Fort Worth, Texas, Tampa and Pensacola, Fla. and Hamilton, N.J.
One of the recipients had this to say: "For me, having a clean home offers peace of mind and stability in my life when everything else feels out of control. My service member works long, unpredictable hours, and is away for extended periods of time. Being able to come home to a sense of order inside the home helps me deal with the areas I cannot control."
