ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 5, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando announced today that it is continuing $12 adoptions for every dog and cat at both of its shelter locations in order to reach the goal of placing 2,000 pets into homes. A total of 1,854 pets were placed into homes during the Reed Nissan Pet Rescue Project Adopt-a-thon Challenge between October 1 and December 31, 2014. To reach the goal of adopting 2,000 pets into homes, the Adopt-a-thon Challenge is being extended through January 15, 2015. Plus, every pet adopted from the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando during the extended Adopt-a-thon also goes home with a gift bag that includes treats and a very special plush toy.

On average, Pet Alliance invests about $300 in every adoptable pet to provide sterilization, micro chipping, vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention, pet health insurance, and a veterinarian examination.
