SAN JOSE, CA and MISSISSAUGA, ON--(Marketwired - Jan 7, 2015) - Sphere 3D Corporation, (NASDAQ: ANY), a virtualization technology and data management solutions provider, today announced the availability of its new RDX^® QuikStor^® backup appliance, the industry's first portable, USB3+ powered RDX QuikStor with future expansion to larger than 2TB capacity media through Sphere 3D's groundbreaking RDX+™ software technology. 

Available exclusively from authorized resellers and OEMs, the new RDX QuikStor is a ruggedized backup appliance solution that provides secure, reliable and convenient removable storage for backup, archive, data exchange, and disaster recovery. Designed as an enterprise grade solution, it is ideally suited for distributed enterprise workgroups and small-to-medium business (SMB) environments. The USB3+ technology eliminates the need for external power supply requirements for RDX devices, making the RDX QuikStor a natural fit in environments where data portability and encrypted data security are essential.

In addition to the new portability capabilities, with USB3+, RDX QuikStor customers can achieve enterprise performance and fast transfer rates up to 936GB per hour and capacities of up to 2TB per cartridge, plus future expansion to larger capacity media enabled by Sphere 3D's RDX+ technology. The new RDX QuikStor features backward and forward compatibility for Sphere 3D customers and partners to allow users to upgrade to higher capacity media without compromise.
