WALTHAM, MA--(Marketwired - January 22, 2015) - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the publication of the new edition of the three-volume Handbook of Crystal Growth edited by Dr. Tatau Nishinaga, Dr. Peter Rudolph and Dr. Tom Kuech.
These combined works of reference present the underlying scientific foundation of the multi-disciplinary field of crystal growth. This long-awaited update of a seminal work in the field covers important new topics such as organic crystallization, bio-crystallization, and industrial crystallization techniques, with an emphasis on nano-materials, solar cell materials and nitride semiconductors. Readership for the handbooks includes: scientists and engineers from academia and industry, such as crystal growers, physicists, chemists, engineers, bioengineers, solid state scientists, materials scientists and earth scientists.
In volume one, the handbook addresses the underlying scientific principles relevant to all the techniques of crystal growth, the fundamentals. The second volume is devoted to bulk transport effects and the influence of transport-limited growth on the stability of both isolated growth forms (such as the dendrite) and arrays, and on the cooperative effects which lead to pattern formation. Recent developments in the phase field method and its application to real systems are also described. Focused on techniques, volume three covers thin films and epitaxy.
The new volumes are:
- Handbook of Crystal Growth, Volume 1: Fundamentals, 2nd Edition, edited by Tatau Nishinaga
- Handbook of Crystal Growth, Volume 2: Bulk Crystal Growth, 2nd Edition, edited by Peter Rudolph
- Handbook of Crystal Growth, Volume 3: Thin Films and Epitaxy, 2nd Edition, edited by Tom Kuech
The books are available on the Elsevier Store and on ScienceDirect, Elsevier's full-text scientific database offering journal articles and book chapters from over 2,200 peer-reviewed journals and more than 25,000 book titles.
