Updated Health & Physical Education Curriculum Released

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 24, 2015) - The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) welcomes the release of Ontario's revised Health & Physical Education curriculum, and is confident that the revisions will lay strong foundations to help students understand and navigate the challenges and issues of the 21^st century.

"This new curriculum is a necessary and long-overdue step forward," said OSSTF/FEESO President Paul Elliott. "It's a curriculum based on wide consultation with both experts and parents, and it provides teachers and other education workers with current information and appropriate resources to help students learn about healthy relationships, consent, online safety, and a number of other crucial issues that the former curriculum simply did not address."

OSSTF/FEESO, founded in 1919, has 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educational assistants, continuing education teachers and instructors, early childhood educators, psychologists, secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, university support staff, and many others in education.
