Connecticut Children's Medical Center to Host Pediatric Neck Mass Webinar on March 18

HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 24, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Connecticut Children's Medical Center will hold a webinar on pediatric neck masses on Wednesday, March 18 from 12:15-1:15PM. The webinar will be presented by Scott R. Schoem, MD, FAAP, Division Chief of Otolaryngology.

The appearance of a lump on a child's neck can be extremely alarming and is one of the most common reasons for a visit to the pediatrician's office.  But the truth is, pediatric neck masses are actually quite common and typically do not require urgent surgery. However, consultation with a pediatric otolaryngologist may be helpful in co-management. This free, educational webinar is designed to help physicians better understand the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neck masses and will include:

  • History and brief overview of numerous types of neck masses
  • Evaluation processes for children exhibiting signs and symptoms
  • Key factors in differentiating between benign and malignant masses
  • Case studies illustrating medical management and surgical techniques

A Q &A session will follow. To register, please visit www.ctchildrenswebinar.com.
