Does Travel Keep You Young?

A Battery of Surveys and Medical Case Studies Are Showing That Travel May Make the Best Medicine

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 19, 2015) - Does travel reverse the clock on aging? While it may not be the Merlin's Wand of time, travel does help slow time down and it makes that time worthy and healthful.

The positive mental health effects of travel are well documented throughout decades of research. And so are the deleterious effects of not taking a vacation. Recent reports include studies out of Wisconsin that noted one in six US employees is so overworked that he or she is unable to use those traditional two weeks of annual vacation time at all. And, according to a national survey cited inside that study, men and women workers that do not take vacation are more likely to stay up nights worrying about work, eat and work at the same time, and fail to maintain a healthy diet at work as compared to those who do take vacation.

The latest issue of Tours.com's Travel-Intel looks at several such studies of those who take vacations versus those who don't with some not so surprising conclusions. It also provides reasons why a cruise vacation may be the most expedient, healthful and comprehensive cure for those suffering from "deskitis."

And while travel may be good for you it is not always easy or smooth. Flight delays and cancellations can all but ruin a vacation based on precious time off. This issue of Travel-Intel discusses how passengers do not have to take these problems sitting down. Air travelers have rights and, now, companies are at the ready to help them work with the airlines to collect any compensation due them.

Just back from the annual Travel Goods show in Las Vegas, Travel-Intel reports on the latest trends in luggage design and latest technology to be found that keeps travelers connected to what they carry. Purses are out. Smart bags and connected suitcases are in. Travel-Intel reports on what's hot in luggage, what's about to come out on retail shelves and where to find it.

Meanwhile, anyone traveling internationally these days may find himself or herself with time to spend in Dubai. The innovative city on the Arabian Gulf has much to offer in places to stay and play, and knows a thing or two about how to treat a guest. This week Travel-Intel catches up with six of those places, including the stylish Armani Hotel Dubai and several signature stays at properties in Dubai under the Address Hotels & Resorts Dubai branding. The properties are members of the Kurtz-Ahlers collection of exclusive hotels, resorts, and destination specialists.

Leisure travelers may want to pack up for a week in French Polynesia. Travel-Intel looks at the various islands to visit, romantic things to do and where to stay in Tahiti and Her Islands to get the most out of a holiday in paradise.

Travel-Intel reports from travel conferences and expos, as well as popular hotels, exotic resorts, cruise ships and ports, and destinations near and far with stories that feature the latest intel on travel. Current features and archives can be viewed at www.travel-intel.com.
