Four Elsevier Books Win Awards From Text and Academic Authors Association

Books Honored With "Most Promising New Textbook Excellence Award" and "Textbook Excellence Award"

WALTHAM, MA--(Marketwired - March 26, 2015) - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced that four of its books will receive awards in the College category from the Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA). Three titles will receive the Textbook Excellence Award, better known as a "Texty," and one title will receive the Most Promising New Textbook Award. The awards will be presented during a luncheon at the Text and Academic Authors Association 28th Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV, June 20, 2015.

TAA announced a total of 13 award winners split over three categories. These include five winners for the 2015 Most Promising New Textbook Award for excellence in first-year edition textbooks and learning materials, and seven for the 2015 Textbook Excellence Award for excellence in current textbook and learning materials in their second edition or later. One textbook was awarded a 2015 William Holmes McGuffey Longevity Award.

"We are honored with this recognition by the Text and Academic Authors Association," said Suzanne BeDell, Managing Director, Science and Technology Books at Elsevier. "Congratulations to all of the Elsevier authors who will receive an award at the Association's annual conference."

TAA created the Textbook Excellence Award in 1992 to recognize current textbooks and learning materials. Nominated books in each category are judged based on the criteria: interesting and informative; well organized and well prepared; up to date and appealing; and teachability.

The winning Elsevier books are:

These books, all published under the Academic Press imprint, are available on the Elsevier Store or on ScienceDirect, Elsevier's full-text scientific database offering journal articles and book chapters from over 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and more than 33,000 book titles.

The Text and Academic Authors Association provides professional development resources, industry news, and networking opportunities for textbook authors and authors of scholarly journal articles and books. Established in 1987 by math author Mike Keedy, TAA is the only national, nonprofit membership association dedicated solely to assisting textbook and academic authors.
