Lubrizol to Showcase Expanded
Global Solutions at Medtec Europe 2015
CLEVELAND, April 14, 2015 - The Lubrizol Corporation announces that its LifeSciences business will showcase their total solutions capabilities, including those from the acquisition of Vesta and recent alliance with Particle Sciences at Medtec Europe 2015 in Stuttgart, Germany. Lubrizol LifeSciences will co-exhibit resins at the event with Velox GmbH, a leading European supplier of specialty raw materials, at Booth 5C20. LifeSciences will also demonstrate Vesta's capabilities at Booth 5G63.
The acquisition of contract manufacturer Vesta, in combination with the recent Particle Sciences alliance, means that the Lubrizol LifeSciences business is offering complete, full-service solutions to the medical device/drug delivery markets. Vesta complements Lubrizol's long term implantable portfolio in the life science sector by adding capabilities of precision silicone component manufacturing and thermoplastic extrusion. The alliance with Particle Sciences, an integrated provider of drug development services, offers customers formulation capabilities across a wide range of materials.
Lubrizol LifeSciences aims to support our customers' success at every stage of development: advanced polymer materials, R&D/engineering, quality processes and manufacturing efficiency. This unique combination offers tremendous partnering opportunities to deliver comprehensive medical solutions.
"Medtec is a premier show for our European partners and customers, and there is no better venue for us to share the innovative products we have that meet the ever-changing and stringent requirements of the healthcare industry," says Timothy Madden, Lubrizol LifeSciences managing director for the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region.
Among the featured LifeSciences products at Medtec Europe are Tecophilic(TM) TPUs, which have been specially formulated to absorb water contents from 20 to 1000% of the weight of dry resin. Tecophilic TPUs can be used in films, tapes and backings and are ideal for hydrogel applications. These materials have a pronounced ability to absorb wound exudate and can be used in blood clotting for severe wounds. TPU is considered a preferred polymer for these applications because of the material's ability to absorb moisture, provide breathability and supply an adequate barrier to contaminants, all in a manner that is comfortable for a patient. Tecophilic TPUs are just one of the many exciting LifeSciences expanded total solutions.
Trademarks are owned by The Lubrizol Corporation.
