DirectEmployers, The Army National Guard, MSCCN and CASY Sign Updated Memorandum of Understanding to Aid in Advancing Veteran and Military Spouses Employment Initiatives

INDIANAPOLIS, April 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To promote future collaboration, DirectEmployers Association, Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (MSCCN) and Corporate America Supports You (CASY) have signed an updated memorandum of understanding (MOU) with The Army National Guard to continue to provide support and skills gap training services related to employment readiness, as well as expanded job opportunities for veterans, military service members and their families. This signed MOU signifies additional steps forward in helping transitioning service members within the Army National Guard better prepare for employment in the civilian workforce. The first MOU, signed in 2011, created the framework under which the National Guard Employment Network (NGEN) was established and subsequently launched into the 54 states and territories. This network aims to provide employment support to the National Guard personnel tasked with providing Soldier and family programs within each state, and as budgets are slashed and government programs re-align, NGEN is becoming even more critical.

"Since 2010 we've partnered with MSCCN and CASY to build and provide the largest job portal for military spouses globally," said DirectEmployers Executive Director, Bill Warren. "With this MOU we aim to extend our assistance efforts, giving our members an outreach opportunity and providing transitioning Army National Guard service members, veterans and military spouses with training and extended access to military-friendly employers in a variety of industries."

With this additional outreach opportunity, DirectEmployers will encourage its members to fully utilize this partnership as another source for veteran hiring. Members will have the opportunity to interact with the Army National Guard community and find both service members and spouses that are looking for employment.

"DirectEmployers is an important partner to both MSCCN and CASY, as well as to the National Guard Employment Network (NGEN). Unfortunately, automated programs are not successful for over 76% of the people in America, which means they need more than just a job board or job fair to find employment," commented Stacy Bayton, COO of CASY and MSCCN. "Through the help and support of DirectEmployers Association, MSCCN and CASY operate a hybrid military and veteran placement program using our successful direct placement model, employer relations and outreach programs, the National Labor Exchange (NLx), industry gap skills training programs, support services, and our IBM BrassRing applicant tracking and case management system."

This model and technology will be shared with the National Guard states through NGEN, which currently has over 19 participating states. In 2014 alone, over 5,000 military service members, veterans, National Guard, and military spouses were placed in employment under this direct connect model with the states.

In addition, DirectEmployers Association hosts the My.jobs Network that the states use in the NGEN program and also help facilitate employer trainings, led by CASY and MSCCN, on best practices in hiring veterans.
