NEW YORK, April 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SG Blocks (OTCQB:SGBX), a premier innovator and designer of container-based structures, today announced it has completed the shipment and installation of its GreenSteel product for the new Bareburger restaurant that will open in the spring of 2015 on Long Island.
"Our goal was to ensure Bareburger had its new structure in place as soon as possible to get them to market much quicker than with conventional construction," stated Paul Galvin, Chairman and CEO of SG Blocks. "Bareburger chose a unique, environmentally favorable design which will have the restaurant up and running in the coming weeks."
GreenSteel is the structural core and shell of an SG Blocks building and the Bareburger will be a two-story, 11-container restaurant located at 395 South Oyster Bay Road, Plainview, NY. SG Blocks delivered the GreenSteel containers – which were prefabricated in Jacksonville, FL – less than three months after the partnership was announced.
"Since opening our first restaurant nearly six years ago, a key element of the Bareburger philosophy has focused on sustainability. We use energy efficient equipment and lighting in our restaurants, reclaimed materials for our furniture and fixtures, and we design our menu and operational practices to reduce waste," said John Simeonidis, Jr., Chief Brand Officer, and Co-Founder of Bareburger.
"We're constantly researching ways to minimize our impact on the environment. We started looking at using shipping containers two years ago. After several design iterations and a lot of learning we'll be opening our newest Bareburger restaurant in Plainview which we see as a natural extension of how we approach our business."
