Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Team up with TripAdvisor's Number One Family Resort in America for 7th Annual Pinstripes Golf Classic

HAWLEY, Pa., April 21, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, will be hosting their 7th annual Pinstripes Golf Classic at The Country Club at Woodloch Springs on Monday, June 15th, 2015.

With the crippling Pocono Mountains winter nearly behind us, the promise of spring signals the re-opening of Woodloch Resort's championship golf course, Woodloch Springs, as well as baseball's opening day.  The winter has been exciting and prosperous for both Woodloch Resort and the RailRiders.  The resort is still buzzing after being recognized as TripAdvisor.com's number one resort for families in America and sixth in the world, while the RailRiders are enjoying a reinvigoration of new ownership and a very promising reorganization of the front office.

"We're pulling out all the stops for this year's tournament" remarked Jeremy Ruby, interim general manager of the RailRiders. "It's all about fans having an intimate experience with baseball, hearing the stories and feeling the team comradery."  This year's tournament has added more value and has effectively married the two sports, creating a unique opportunity for baseball fans, golfers and general sports enthusiast to get an insider's perspective of the sport, spend a relaxing day with players and coaches, and feel like a part of the team.

On Sunday, June 14th, all tournament participants will kick the experience off with an on-the-field recognition ceremony prior to the RailRiders vs. Rochester game at PNC Field followed by a stadium tour.  All participants will be guests of the players and sit behind home plate in their reserved guest seating.  The following day is the golf tournament which starts out with a grand tailgate cookout.  Each golfer's welcome bag will be overflowing with goodies ranging from a branded pullover to golf balls and accessories to a Nike Mobile ProShop voucher and more.  The golfers will mingle with current RailRider team members, coaches and Yankee legends as well as other sports heroes.  A day of golf, valuable awards, and plenty of baseball memorabilia will conclude with cocktails and dinner in the evening.  Golfers who want to play golf with a pro athlete will pay $275 per golfer; those who just want to go out in their own foursome will pay $200 per golfer for the day's event.

"The day's event is jam-packed with value and we're not even close to being done adding special treats for our guests" mentioned John Pillar, Director of Golf Operations at Woodloch Springs and Philadelphia PGA Section President.  To obtain more information about the tournament or to register, please call 1.800.453.8263 or visit www.woodloch.com/pinstripes.
