Canada's Renewable Fuels Association Celebrates Earth Day

• Renewable fuels like ethanol and renewable diesel reduce GHGs by as much as 99% compared to fossil fuels. 
• Every year Canada's biofuels industry generates $3.5 billion in economic activity while removing 4.2 megatons of carbon from the environment -- the equivalent of taking 1 million cars off the road annually.
• Ethanol helps consumers save money at the fuel pump. In 2013, the wholesale price of ethanol was on average 20 cents per litre lower than the wholesale price of gasoline.
• Biodiesel can be used in all diesel vehicles with few or no modifications.
• Canada now has sufficient domestic production to meet the requirements of the federal 2% renewable diesel mandate. Moving to 5% renewables in the diesel pool would increase GHG emission reductions by 2.5MT a year.
• Canada's biofuels industry continues to grow, improve and innovate. Today technology exists to make biofuel from agricultural waste, residues, and even garbage.
