HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 23, 2015) - Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc. is urging operators of business aircraft planning to be in and around the Davos-Klosters, Switzerland area during the 2016 World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting (Jan. 21-24, 2016) to begin making arrangements immediately.
"Even though we are more than eight months out from the event, you should be securing tentative aircraft parking arrangements now," advised Todd Carter, Senior Trip Owner, Universal®. "The best option is to request overnight parking for the next Davos event during the current Davos event, as parking space allocated to general aviation is very limited and goes quickly. If you wait too long, you may have to arrange parking at an outlying airport."
The primary airport for attending Davos is Zurich (LSZH). The only other close-by airport, with customs, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) clearance capability, is Friedrichshafen (EDNY). Drive time from either airport to the Davos venue is approximately one hour, depending upon weather/snow conditions. Helicopter transfers are also possible from both LSZH and EDNY to the event site.
During the 2015 Davos event LSZH did not permit overnight parking for GLF6 and larger sized aircraft. These larger aircraft types, therefore, had to drop passengers at LSZH and reposition. Airport slots are required for all arrivals and departures at LSZH and may be requested once schedule and parking is confirmed. Slot deviation is +/- 30 minutes.
"Operators unable to obtain parking reservations, or who lose parking reservations due to schedule changes, may drop off and pick up passengers at LSZH. Maximum ground time for pick up and drop off is three hours, and airport slots will need to be obtained. Keep in mind, if you revise your schedule, after parking is confirmed, your existing parking reservation will be cancelled and given to the next operator in line, and the revised request placed at the end of the list."
