O'actually Debuts Premier Arts Festival on Women's Sexual Pleasure

Festival Asks Artists to Reimagine Adult Entertainment for Women

SAN FRANCISCO, May 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- O'actually, a new, curated women's adult content platform, will host its inaugural arts festival this summer which is billed as an opportunity for film-makers, artists and writers to be awarded lucrative cash prizes for creating new work celebrating women's sexual pleasure.

O'actually is seeking out artists who share the desire to show what equality looks like in the bedroom and who yearn to be part of impactful change for women and women's-oriented adult entertainment.

The festival welcomes submissions through June 30, in literature, visual art, and film. There are four categories: teaser films (less than five minutes), short films (between five and 30 minutes), visual art (including images, sketches, photographs, sculpture, and fashion), and literature (poems, short stories, scripts and screenplays), up to 15,000 words in length.

Work will be judged by industry professionals along with audience choice awards. The judging panel comprises six experts including artists and sexuality activist Betty Dodson, clinical psychologist Dr. Marianne Brandon, adult entertainment performer Stoya, renowned stage director and advocate for female artists Raelle Myrick-Hodges, comedienne Guilia Rozzi, and screenwriter and branding expert Melissa Cassera.

Boston native Kit Murray Maloney founded O'actually as a female alternative to mainstream adult entertainment. Following the receipt of her Masters in Gender and Social Policy from the London School of Economics, Ms. Murray Maloney committed to channeling her passion for gender equity into a celebration of women's sexual pleasure. She plans to give a TED Talk later this year on dispelling the taboo surrounding female self-pleasure and re-imagining the landscape of adult entertainment.

"It's time to showcase the power and beauty of female sexual pleasure to expand the boundaries of adult entertainment," Ms. Murray Maloney said. "We want women to have what guys have had for years: content focused on exploring and embodying their fantasies."

Finalists will be announced on July 15, 2015, and winners notified on July 31 ahead of a live awards ceremony, in August, in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Five finalists will be selected in each category. All finalists' content will be prominently featured and promoted as one of the top 20 official festival selections, and each will be in the running for both the Grand Prize and the Audience Choice Award trophies, awarded in each category, and a grand total of $8,250 in prize money.
