Altec's CEO Praises Passage of Trade Promotion Authority

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., June 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Altec's Chairman and CEO, Lee Styslinger III has praised the recent passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and extended his appreciation to Congress and the Obama administration for their extensive efforts to enact TPA legislation. Styslinger is a member of the Trade Benefits America Coalition, a broad-based group of U.S. business leaders who have been working with Congress and the administration on trade policy.

"We want to congratulate members of Congress and the administration for their outstanding leadership and perseverance in reaching an agreement on Trade Promotion Authority," said Styslinger. "TPA is critical to securing stronger trade agreements that will open markets worldwide for American-made goods. America's manufacturing output has quadrupled since 1980, fueled in large part by the export of U.S. manufactured products. In today's competitive marketplace, the U.S. needs to continue to lead globally and be in position to negotiate new agreements that open more markets and create greater opportunities for American manufacturers. TPA will now provide those opportunities while creating both economic and job growth in the U.S."

Styslinger was a key member of George W. Bush's Export Council and was responsible for advising President Bush on government policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance and export expansion.
